Neil was a Senior Adviser to, and Chairman of the Perth office of UBS for 8 years ending May 2018. He has had a 35 year career in law and in business in funds management and investment banking industries.

Neil is current Chairman of Buckeridge Group of Companies (BGC).

He also previously held a number board positions including Chairman of Oz Minerals, Challenge Bank, Western Power Corporation, Mount Gibson Iron and Iress Market Technology and Director of Insurance Australia Group and Metcash. He is past Chairman of West Coast Eagles Football Club and the AFL Players Association Advisory Board and a Life Member of both organisations.

Neil practised law as a Partner with the firm Robinson Cox (now Clayton Utz).

Neil graduated with an LLB from The University of Western Australia.

Tim has over 17 years experience in investment banking. Prior to founding Sternship Advisers, Tim was Executive Director and Head of the Perth UBS office for 7 years.

Tim spent 5 years in investment banking with Macquarie Bank in Sydney. He also spent two years in senior management in a Macquarie Bank operating portfolio company running product and corporate development and then spent two years in New York helping lead the asset sale process for Babcock and Brown’s US energy business which led to the sale of over $2 billion EV of energy assets.

Tim holds a Bachelor of Law from The University of Western Australia and Macquarie University as well as a Bachelor of Economics with Honours from The University of Western Australia graduating with the University Medal as the top honours student.

Rob was the founder and Managing Director of Ashanti Capital, which merged with Sternship Advisers in 2020.

He is also the Investment Manager for the Ashanti Investment Fund.

Rob was previously the Managing Director in the ECM team for Reorient Financial Markets in Hong Kong, where he was based between 2010-2015. Prior to moving to HK, Rob spent four years in Perth working for Macquarie Bank and Argonaut (Corporate Finance & Institutional Sales).

Denis is a Director with Sternship Advisers, specialising in M&A and capital markets in the natural resources, mining services and infrastructure sectors.

Denis has global banking experience working as part of the UBS Investment Banking team in Perth alongside Neil and Tim, prior to joining Sternship at its inception.

Denis holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and Engineering (Civil Engineering with First Class Honours) from the University of Western Australia.

Robert Thomson

Robert is a Director with Sternship with over 6 years of M&A and capital markets experience. Robert has worked across a wide variety of engagements, including general corporate advisory, financing transactions and public company M&A, particularly within the natural resources, industrial, engineering and telecommunications sectors.

Prior to joining Sternship, Robert worked at Azure Capital in Perth.

Robert also spent two years in New York on secondment from Azure Capital where he worked for a private corporate advisory firm focused on financing transactions for clients operating in the mining, energy, infrastructure and technology sectors. Robert completed FINRA’s Series 7 and 63 license examinations during his time in New York.

Robert holds a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Corporate Finance and Investment Finance) and a Bachelor of Economics (majoring in Financial Accounting, Money & Banking and International Business Economics) from the University of Western Australia. During his undergraduate studies, Robert interned with AngloGold Ashanti at their Sunrise Dam Gold Mine in Laverton.

Hugo was previously an Executive Director at Goldman Sachs and spent 8 years across the Perth and London offices covering a range of sectors including natural resources, industrials, retail and healthcare.

Yvonne is an Associate Director with Sternship with over 8 years experience across asset management and investment banking industries.

Most recently, Yvonne spent 4 years in investment banking with UBS in Perth and prior to this she worked in institutional sales at Macquarie Group, Dimensional Fund Advisors and Fidelity in Sydney where she played an integral role in winning new business.

Yvonne holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance & Business Information Systems) from Bond University, Gold Coast.

Ross brings 8 years of finance and business consultancy experience across different jurisdictions in Africa, the UK, and Australia. During this time, he has completed an MSc in Marketing with Distinction at Oxford Brookes (UK) and an MBA with High Distinction at Curtin University in Australia.
Ross has held numerous high-level positions in financial planning and business development. This has included assisting management teams with project expansion plans and implementation, and banking risk due diligence audits.
Most recent roles have included being an Executive Director for a boutique hedge fund in Australia and consulting for Investec Bank in Mauritius.

Reagan is an Associate with Sternship. Reagan was previously within PwC’s Valuation and Transaction Services team, advising a number of mining, energy, and industrials companies on a wide range of valuation requirements.

Reagan holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance (with First Class Honours) and Economics from the University of Western Australia. During his undergraduate studies, Reagan completed internships at Argonaut, Viburnum Funds, and Deloitte M&A.
